what you have to say does matter. and you never know who you could be helping with your words, so please keep writing. i look forward to reading future posts.
Negativity is a way to deflect attention away from shortcomings. When people speak about you negatively know that it only reveals their flaws. Your opinion about you is the most important opinion about you!
I'm very interested in young women like you. Keep writing. What you say and think does matter. Try not to seek validation from the naysayers. Surround yourself with those who value you.
Before I start preaching, please come by Color Online. Let's talk about books and life and teendom.
Thirteen is a great age! Everything is still ahead for you and you are old enough to appreciate it! Keep writing and I'll drop in to check on you from time to time!
It's easy to get down and caught up in other people's opinions. You just need to know who you are and don't let them change your own opinion of yourself. People sometimes try to diss people that they envy. Just keep doing you!
You know, I am a lot older than thirteen and many times I feel the same way. Sometimes when people dis you it's because they don't feel good about themselves. They have to pick at you so they can feel better, but the best way to deal with it is to hold your head up high and be the somebody that you are. I enjoy reading what you have written so far. Keep it up girl!
Thirteen is a rough age. You are trying to figure out who you are and where you stand in the world. This is not an easy thing and it is a journey that you must make. The good news is at the end you will have made a wondrous discovery, yourself. Life is never easy but when you truly believe in yourself the love will carry you through the longest journeys, the darkest nights, and the purest joy. Keep writing, you will find your path.
A lot of folks upthread have said what I want to say to you. Thirteen is hard, but enjoy the journey. As Renee says, you will be happy in the end when you discover your true self. And, I know it doesn't feel like it now, but once you graduate, in five short years, a lot of the stuff that bothered you at 13 won't even matter. I know it matters A LOT now, but some of these hurts will fade...I promise. In the meantime, KEEP WRITING! Your voice is important and I look forward to reading more of your writing.
